Where should I place my Outdoor Camera?
For optimal results, it is advised to mount the camera at a height of 6-8 ft from the ground, angled approximately 30 degrees downward. Aim the camera towards the entry and exit points of your property, like the driveway, front walkway, or back garden. Additionally, you can utilize outdoor cameras to monitor entry/exit points into your home, such as positioning them to face the front door and garage doors. Always ensure to use a sturdy ladder for the installation and, if necessary, seek assistance from a helper to ensure safety.
How far away can the Outdoor Camera detect motion?
The effective range can extend up to 30 feet, varying based on the height of the mounting.
How does Night Vision work?
Standard Mode: By default, the camera utilizes infrared night vision, providing a black and white view of up to 30 feet in the darkness.
Spotlight Mode: When activated, the camera’s spotlight turns on during live view and upon detecting motion at night. This mode enables color night vision, allowing you to see objects up to 10 feet away. However, it’s essential to be aware that using the spotlight feature will lead to a shorter battery life.
How can I turn off the microphone on the camera?
To disable the microphone, simply go to Camera Settings > Mix & Audio, and then toggle the switch to the off position.
How do I set up Activity Zones for my Cameras?
Within the Camera Settings menu, you have the option to create Custom Activity Zones to target specific areas of interest on your property. By tapping the zones you wish to exclude from receiving alerts, such as high-traffic roads or paths, you can customize the camera’s focus.
How many cameras can be added to my system?
Our Pro Premium monitoring plan supports up to 10 total cameras, including the Wireless Outdoor Camera.
When will my Outdoor Camera record?
Recordings are available with select monitoring plans. Recordings will begin automatically after an alarm is triggered. They can also occur if there is movement in front of the camera including the system off state. Motion detection settings can be adjusted within camera settings.
How long can the camera record for?
Upon motion, the Outdoor Camera will record for 10 seconds by default, and it will continue recording if there is sustained motion in front of it. Recordings are available with select monitoring plans.
How does the camera respond if a sensor in my home is triggered?
The siren will sound and the spotlight will turn on if an Entry, Glassbreak or Motion Sensor is triggered when the system is armed. By default, the camera will sound the 80dB siren and begin recording. Recordings available with select monitoring plans.
